Friday Favorites: Fire Pits, Green, St. Paddy’s Day

Editors note: You may have noticed a lengthy absence from the blogging team at Ironhaus. Between trade shows and developing some great new resources for our readers (coming next week!) I took a brief time-out from posting. I’m back and ready to start with a reader favorite: Friday Favorites!

Bring on Spring

For those of us who are just now seeing the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel” in terms of winter morphing into spring, it’s been a long wait. But alas, the birds are starting to return, the days are getting longer, and warmer, and it’s time to get back out into the yard.

After having just spent a week at the Hearth, Patio, & BBQ Expo (HPBExpo) for dealers and retailers of such products and services I’m looking forward to transforming my backyard deck into an oasis for entertaining.

Trends in Outdoor Living

Outdoor living is one of the fastest growing markets in home building and remodeling, and it was evident at the HPBExpo where it was all about outdoor kitchens, outdoor lighting, fire pits, and furniture.

We debuted our new fire pit cover at the show and received a accolades by dealers and retailers who couldn’t wait to get this into their showrooms. It’s so new we don’t even photos yet, but I wanted to give you readers a sneak peak so you can include this on your wish list for things you must have this summer for your landscaping remodel. We’ve solved the problem of how to keep your guests safe should they perhaps imbibe in a little too much cheer and take a spill in the direction of your fire pit. Our new fire pit cover will also prevent your fire pit from becoming a garbage pit. No more will your kids, spouses, or guests be able to toss a cup, empty can, or bottle into your fire pit. And, if flying sparks are a fire concern our new fire pit cover will keep them contained! And, oh yes, like all our products they’re custom made to fit your fire pit, and available in a range of colors, and finishes.

Decorating a Room with Plants

With spring on the brain it only makes sense that I’d be a little preoccupied with all things green. And I’m not talking about repainting the walls in my home, or recovering the furniture, but adding little touches of green here and there with house plants, accessories is the best way to bring a little spring into your home.

St. Paddy’s Day

While we’re talking green, it is St. Patty’s Day this coming Monday. I’ve been to both the parade in Chicago and the one in Savannah and without playing favorites I have to give the nod to Savannah. I love you Chicago, you’re one of my favorite cities, but the St. Patty’s Day festivities in Savannah are well worth a trip South.
