Montana is famous for its breathtaking vistas of sky and land. As the Big Sky state we’ll think you’ll agree that our Big Sky Series of wood burning fireplaces is an appropriate name for these impressive, yet economical fireplaces. The Rumford style of fireplace is a tall, shallow fireplace named for it’s creator, Sir Benjamin Thompson, or Count Rumford, who studied and was well-known for his investigations of heat. This study lead to the Rumford style of fireplace, which radiated heat better than other fireplace designs during that time. The style has remained a popular choice for fireplace designers, and with homeowners.
Ironhaus’ Big Sky in the Rumford style literally towers over other fireplaces, featuring an opening size of 48” wide by 42” tall.
